What we cook

Keto ramen with shirataki noodles

We are a family that loves to cook. Nabil is our nurturer, he can come up with a dinner plan when nobody else can think what to make. And it’s almost always one that pleases everyone. Maya and Sam have made the kitchen their own. They bake, they experiment with new food preparations, they each have sauces and marinades they’ve perfected. Max doesn’t cook much for us, but I hear he impresses friends’ families with his skills. And I have seen him create some great dishes for himself.

I have very strong opinions about the kinds of foods we should be eating– fresh vegetables, full-fat dairy, plenty of fresh meats, lots of pickled and fermented foods, great oils, lots of flavor. The older kids and adults avoid sugar and wheat, some of us have gone full Keto. This has worked for us. Nabil is controlling his diabetes with our way of eating, and my health has also improved as a result.
