Well, it’s been a minute. I have spent the last two years climbing out of Covid isolation and into a whole new career. Well, not new exactly. More like making my previous ten years official. Here’s what I love about teaching in these times, and in this place…
Beyond homeschool
Summer has always been a time for us to pause. It’s a time of reflection, of planning for the upcoming school year, and of relaxing and usually swimming.
Reflections on the homeschooling life (part 2)
For 3 years, as we went about our days, free as birds with no school schedule to keep and very little in the way of traditional schoolwork to wrestle over, I learned a fundamental truth about how my children learn.
Reflections on the homeschooling life (part 1)
I never intended to homeschool four kids. But a few fateful decisions later, we had begun a lifestyle that would take us on unexpected adventures, allow us the flexibility to move overseas, and that ultimately gave my children an education and life experience that would have never been possible if my original life plan had worked out as planned.
Moving back home-ish
I have been on a long blogging hiatus as we made our move back to the US, found a home, settled in, worked out our new normal. It’s been a weird, wonderful, confusing and illuminating move for our family.
Pad Thai
It’s been a long time since many of us have eaten noodles. But since we started Keto, I learned about konjac noodles, also known as Shirataki or miracle noodles.
Pizza
With Max and Daniel both graduated already, we decided to have a celebratory pizza lunch. Pizza is tricky in our family since so many of us don’t eat wheat flour, and many don’t eat any grains at all. Luckily, Maya had a great keto pizza recipe up her sleeve.
Getting it all done
Before the ‘rona struck, I was feeling overwhelmed. It was almost March, we were planning to move back to the US at the end of April and the kids were in a full-on second semester panic as it began to dawn on them how much they had to get done.
Easter
As a family, we love celebrations and holidays. They give us something to plan for, projects to work towards, and exciting family time. Easter is a holiday that we could skip, though.
Making masks
Now that Maya’s done with school, we decided to make some masks to protect us if we go out.
