We’re all still trying to process what’s going on in the world. Nabil and I watched Contagion the other night, and it was so weird how it seemed so outlandish when the movie first came out, but it all is now real life. We are on full lockdown, nowhere to go and nothing to do. The proms my teens were planning to go to have all been cancelled, our going-away party has been too.
As homeschoolers we’re used to sitting around the dining table and doing schoolwork in the mornings. But by an hour or two after lunch, everyone has pretty much had enough of schoolwork. Normally we would have a little down time and then head off to our afternoon activities: sports, homeschool park day, co ops and the like. It’s a bit disconcerting not to have anything to look forward to after the schoolwork. And now Nabil is working from home, too, which is an adjustment for him. He’s not used to our daily rhythm and is trying to be his work self and weekend self at the same time. I know we’ll fall into a new rhythm, and for now, I’m just glad he’s home with us, isolated and safe.
