We are homeschoolers. Long ago, when my oldest was in kindergarten, we decided we needed a new way of educating the kids. I wanted to try some kind of alternative school–Montessori or Waldorf or something. But those were too expensive, and I had just quit my job to have my third baby. So we decided to jump off the beaten path. Here we are, 12 years and a fourth baby later.
For us, homeschooling has very little to do with being home. We are part of a wonderful, active homeschool group and we are so busy with field trips, co ops, park days and other meetups that we actually don’t spend more than 2-3 hours doing sit-down schoolwork each day.
