Cheese!

Posted on March 26, 2020 by laura.noueihed

I have discovered a cheese I can eat! I am lactose intolerant and while I don’t mind missing out on milk, having to avoid cheese is killing me. On occasion I have used Lactaid in order to indulge in something cheesy-delicious that others around me are eating. But it often doesn’t help much. But I recently tried a cheese that is popular here: Halloumi. It is normally served fried, and we cook it in butter. It’s a bit salty and buttery and oh so delicious.

The first time I had it I took Lactaid, but when I had no negative reaction at all, I looked it up. It seems Halloumi is made from goat and sheep milk, and it does not affect those who are lactose intolerant. So now I am eating it with no pills. Luckily, when we did our two-week grocery shop, Nabil picked up a lot of it. What a great discovery!
